Effects of integrative art therapy program on enhancement of self-esteem and self-expression of illiterate aged women

Abstract
This study aims to investigate effects of integrative arttherapy program on the enhancement of self-esteem and self-expression in old illiterate women. Study subjects were 12 illiteracy women over 65 years old in S Hangul School located in G City as single experiment group. The study period was from April 2nd, 2018 to May 10th, 2018. A total of 12 sessions (60 minute per session, twice a week, excluding pre- and post-tests) were conducted. To verify the effectiveness of this Study, the Korean version of self-esteem index by Gang JK (1986) and self-expression index by Kim PG (1998) were used, and t-test was performed for data analysis. In addition, changes in research subject to each session were observed and analyzed. Study results are as follows; First, integrative art therapy program positively influenced the improvement of self-esteem in old illiterate women. Second, integrative arts therapy program positively influenced the improvement of self-expression in old illiterate women. This study proved that integrative art therapy program could enhance self-esteem and self-expression in old illiterate women. Further studies are required not only with old illiteracy women, but also with illiteracy minors and immigrant women. Results, of this study are expected to provide basic data for further studies on this.
